WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Storm Team 12 Meteorologist Mark Larson says hotter temps and higher humidity blow into Kansas through week’s end.

Temps really start to soar Wednesday and Thursday when highs top 90 degrees for the first time in 2021 across parts of eastern Kansas. Heat indices, (the sweat factor), will climb into the 96 to 101 range over the next few days.

Parts of southern Kansas could see a few storms this evening, but they’ll be few and far between.

A dry “cold” front, should slide through the western half of our state by Friday morning, shifting winds around to the north, carrying drier air into our area, lowering the humidity. The front will pass through eastern Kansas Friday night.

Most of the rain associated with the front’s trek across our region will fall across Nebraska and the Upper Midwest, but the northeast corner of our state could get clipped by a few storms.

Temps behind the front won’t change too much, with afternoon highs ranging from the mid 80s to lower 90s, statewide, through the weekend.
