Storm chance returns Friday; cooling west
A cold front could lead to some storms in eastern Kansas with less heat in the west
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Chief Meteorologist Ross Janssen says an approaching cold front on Friday will bring lower humidity and less heat to western Kansas. Farther east, it will be a chance for thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening that could produce some hail and gusty winds.
Friday will have sunshine for western Kansas with highs dropping back to the 80s. The humidity drops thanks to a northeast wind for the area. Areas east of I-135 should be on the lookout for some afternoon and evening storms that could be severe. Any storms that develop will move south and exit the area before midnight. Look for highs to reach the low 90s just ahead of the storm chance.
Saturday will be a rather warm day, but the humidity will be down statewide. Highs will be near 90.
Sunday looks dry for a good part of the day, but in the evening and overnight, storms will return to western Kansas. There will be another chance for some scattered storms Monday and Tuesday, but at this time it doesn’t look like it will be widespread.
