WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Thursday morning update: Wichita police arrested 36-year-old Justin Galvan of Wichita on Thursday on charges stemming from a recent police chase and numerous warrants through Sedgwick County.

Around 12 p.m. on Wednesday, officers were conducting a follow-up investigation to locate Galvan when they found him at a home in the 1900 block of South Hillside. Officers tried to take him into custody, but he was able to get inside the home. Galvan refused to come out and the WPD Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT) was called in to assist.

SWAT and WPD Crisis Negotiators made contact with Galvan, and after two hours on the scene, he surrendered peacefully.

Galvan was taken to the Sedgwick County Adult Detention Facility and booked on warrants for aggravated weapons violations, possession of meth, probation violations, felon in possession of a firearm, domestic violence, child support, and intimidation. Galvan also faces new charges from the police chase which happened on Tuesday when officers tried to make initial contact with him.

Wednesday afternoon Update: A wanted felon is in police custody after an hours-long standoff in south Wichita.

The Wichita Police Department said the incident follows a vehicle pursuit that was called off on Tuesday near Harry and Hillside. At that time, officers identified a man in his 30s who was wanted on multiple felony warrants and is a parole absconder, according to the Kansas Department of Corrections, for about 18 months.

Wednesday afternoon, officers located the man at a family member’s home in the 1900 block of S. Hillside, near Mt. Vernon and Skinner.

The SWAT and crisis negotiators were called out. Eventually, the man was taken into custody without incident.

Police said the man is also believed to be linked to a number of recent cases.
