WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - An officer with the Wichita Police Department was arrested Wednesday afternoon and booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on charges of domestic battery, stalking and criminal restraint, the WPD confirmed in a Wednesday evening news release.

The department said further investigation into allegations of domestic violence led to the arrest of Officer Jonathan Ahumada. To avoid conflicts of interest, the WPD said the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office investigated the allegations at the police department’s request. The sheriff’s office is actively investigating the case, the WPD said.

The department said Ahumada has been employed with the WPD for 10 months and pending the outcome of the criminal and internal investigation, was placed on administrative leave.
