WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - As temperatures approach the century mark in Wichita, city officials want to make pool-goers stay safe.

The city tweeted out Thursday afternoon that all public pools in Wichita will be implementing excessive heat breaks, every hour beginning at 1:45-2 p.m. on Thursday.

“This is an opportunity for kids to get out of the sun under shade, rehydrate and reapply sunscreen,” reads the tweet.

The forecasted high for Wichita on Thursday is 101 degrees.
