Another day above century mark for Wichita
(KWCH) - Meteorologist Jake Dunne says Thursday was the first day over 100 degrees in Wichita and today will be the second. A small increase in humidity will make it feel a few degrees warmer. Please limit your outdoor activities and if you must be outside during the heat of the day, remember to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in the shade.
A slow-moving cold front this weekend will bring the heatwave to an end. Humid high temperatures in the upper 90s to near 100 degrees on Saturday and Sunday will fall into the upper 70s and lower 80s early next week.
The front will also bring showers and storms back to the state. A few storms are possible tonight and Saturday night, mainly north of I-70. The better bet for widespread showers and storms will take place Sunday evening into the night across central and eastern Kansas. Some of the storms my be strong producing large hail and gusty wind.
