Hot Father’s Day- Much cooler Monday
WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - A cold front will move through Kansas today, however the “cooler” temperatures won’t show up until tomorrow. The front will produce some scattered late day showers and storms across eastern and south-central Kansas between 7-9 p.m. A few of these storms could produce wind gusts of 50-60 m.p.h. Under mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies temperatures this afternoon will range from the mid-80s in the northwest to 104 in parts of south-central Kansas.
More chances of rain overnight, especially between midnight and early morning Monday. Severe storms are not expected later tonight, just heavy downpours and occasional lightning strikes. Scattered showers and storms will continue through Monday morning, then clouds will be decreasing through the afternoon. It will be much cooler on Monday, with highs in the 70s to near 80. The break in the hot weather will only last through Tuesday, then the heat returns Wednesday through Friday with the mercury soaring into the 90s to 105 (statewide). Another weather system may bring more showers and storms to the area towards the end of the week and heat relief by next weekend.
