2 Wichita women killed in Marion County crash

WICHITA, Kan. (KWCH) - Two Wichita women were killed in a crash in Marion County just before 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The crash happened around 4:56 p.m. on Highway 50, about half a mile from Old Mill Road.

The Kansas Highway Patrol said in an attempted to avoid an oncoming vehicle, the 18-year-old driver of a 2000 Chevrolet Silverado went off and overcorrected. When he came back onto the road, he struck a 2018 Ford Escape driven by 49-year-old Latricia Phillips of Wichita. Phillips and a passenger, Angela Daniels, 49, of Wichita, died in the crash.

A second passenger, a 36-year-old Wichita man, was taken to KU Medical Center with serious injuries. The 18-year-old driver of the Silverado was taken to the Newton Medical Center with minor injuries.
