Chronic waste disease worse in Kansas deer
A deadly disease affecting deer in Kansas continues to worsen. It's called chronic wasting disease.
CWD affects the brain, spinal cord and other tissues of deer.
The Kansas Department of Wildlife, Parks and Tourism says in the last seven years 168 animals have tested positive for the disease.
"Most of the time, the animal that has CWD, you could not tell by looking at it if it's sick or not. But if it is sick, wildlife and parks does not recommend you eating any sick wildlife," said Shane Hesting, a wildlife disease coordinator with KDWPT.
